DK-CM worked with Thurrock Council and Emily Greeves Architects to develop new residential design guidance to form part of the council’s Local Plan. The guidance aimed to be public-facing, clear and place-specific, and to help lay-audiences understand and work with planning policy easily and confidently.
The project was informed by a series of workshops attended by council representatives, Europa, Noel Isherwood, Vincent Lacovara, Colin Munsie, and Silvia Ullmayer, and by a thorough comparative research study into best practice guidance across the UK.

The final SPD was adopted in August 2017.
