Southall Market

Reconnects Southall market to the High Street via a new pedestrian route.

More info

Southall Market, established in 1698, lost its High Street frontage to an Odeon cinema in 1938. Our scheme, part of Southall Great Streets, reconnects the market to the High Street via a new pedestrian route, and transforms what was a car-dominated access road into a major new civic square for Southall.

A bespoke terrazzo entrance mat, designed with Europa, delineates the market entrance. Street furniture and a new retail kiosk have been designed in the spirit of the original cinema, with the delivery of the kiosk scheduled for 2016.

Context

Manor House square was one of eight projects that formed the Southall Great Streets scheme.
